Nocturne Festival.
Selected as the anchor project for Halifax’s second annual Nocturne Festival, this work was a monumental audio/video installation located on Barrington Street in Downtown Halifax. The installation featured rear-projected video of the incoming tides following a powerful storm in Cow Bay, Nova Scotia, displayed on the large street-front windows of two buildings situated on opposite sides of the street.
To enhance the immersive experience, powerful audio speakers were strategically placed on the street, broadcasting the sounds of surf, seagulls, and splashing waves. The audio could be heard from several blocks away, enveloping passersby in a sensory experience that echoed the tumultuous beauty of the ocean.
This installation not only transformed the urban landscape into a dynamic visual and auditory environment but also invited viewers to reflect on the relationship between nature and the city, creating a moment of connection amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life.
